Trip Description
During your stay with us, you and your family will be able to learn about the rehabilitation process to protect and conserve the Orang Utan at Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Young ones and adult alike will have an awesome experience cruising down the Kinabatangan River rich with wildlife. This will be a very good lesson about nature for the young ones to keep in a long time to come. You will also experience more on the places of interest in the west coast of Sabah on Day 4 right up to Day 7.
During your stay with us, your family will have the experience in encountering the Proboscis monkey, the Orang Utan, learn about the richness of flora and fauna at Malaysia’s First World Heritage Site, relaxing at Mamutik Island and experience the cultures of ethnic groups in Sabah.
This 7-day trip offers you and your family the best combination of exciting exploration of Sabah’s natural landscape and leisurely city travel. Not only will you and your family have the opportunity to encounter the Orang Utan and the Proboscis monkey – a long-nosed monkey found only in Borneo, but also the chance to explore Sabah’s treasured natural heritage – its rivers, caves, islands and the famous mountain, Mount Kinabalu. The exploration of Sabah’s natural landscape also includes relaxing dips at the Poring Hot Spring, snorkeling on islands and thrilling river cruises for up-close look at Borneo’s wildlife. For the city tour, we will visit University Malaysia Sabah, Sabah Museum, Sabah State Mosque, Sabah Foundation Building, Kota Kinabalu Handicraft Centre, the Puh Toh Tze Temple and the Atkinson Clock Tower.

Full Itinerary

Day 1 (L / D)
Upon your arrival in Kota Kinabalu, you and your family will be met by your tour guide. We will first take you for lunch at a local restaurant for the famous Seafood “Bak Kut Teh”. After lunch, transfers to Swiss Inn for check-in.
After check-in, it will take approximately 30 minutes by car to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center. Proceed to the centre’s feeding platform. The second feeding time of the Orang Utans will be at 1500hrs. Here, you will have the chance to observe in close range man’s closest “relative”, the Orang Utan being rehabilitated to become wild in their natural habitat. Take a walk in the Tropical Lowland Dipterocarp Forest of Borneo as you walk towards the feeding platform. After the visit, we will transfer you and your family back to Swiss Inn.
In the evening, we will take you for dinner at Ocean King Seafood Restaurant.

Day 2 (B / L / D)
After your breakfast at Swiss Inn, we will transfer you to Bilit which is located in a secluded and serene corner of Sukau village along the lower Kinabatangan River. Experience the warmth and hospitality of Orang Sungei, the “River People” of Sabah, a local ethnic community that resides along this area.
There will be a short distance boat transfer to Bilit Rainforest Lodge from Kampung Bilit Jetty. Upon arrival, there will be a short orientation and then check-in.
Lunch will be served where you can enjoy a hearty Malaysian meal and cool yourself with gentle breeze by the longest river in Sabah.
During your stay, look out for a multitude of wild birds, insects, small and big mammals and primates that may make their way pass the area, as you are now staying in the middle of the mangrove wetland and rainforest area which is richest in wildlife in the island of Borneo.
In the late afternoon, there will be an afternoon river cruise at 1600hrs for Proboscis monkeys viewing along the Kinabatangan River. Be on the lookout for the unique Proboscis monkeys and enjoy the cacophonous symphony of nature as the river’s other wildlife serenade you with their presence. Endemic in Borneo Island, the Proboscis monkey congregates along the riverside for their evening rest. Other rare wildlife and birds can also be sighted during the river cruise, a visual feast for anyone who enjoys nature.
Dinner will be served at Bilit Rainforest Lodge. After dinner, you may opt for a night cruise available at the resort. For parents who are interested to see more of what Kinabatangan River holds, you are recommended to take up this activity. You will have the opportunity to spot nocturnal creatures like the brown civet cat, the Borneo wild cat, deer, owls, wild boars, various species of frogs, the Yellow Ringneck snake, alligators and diverse species of Borneo birds at close range. Avid bird watchers and bird lovers are high recommended to do the night cruise!

Day 3 (B / L)
For those would like to take an early morning river cruise to Ox Bow Lake, your boat will be waiting for you the jetty. After the morning river cruise, return to lodge for breakfast. Pack up and check-out from the lodge as you will need to start the journey overland to Gomantong Bird’s Nest Caves. Upon arrival at the site, the walk on the plank to the cave will take about 15 minutes. This visit will let you explore the largest bird’s nest cave in Sabah, home to millions of bats and swiflets. Nests of the swiflets are collected for the famous Chinese edible bird’s nest. From Gomantong Cave tour, proceed to Sandakan city. Your lunch will be served at Agnes Keith English Tea House. After lunch, we will visit the Puh Jin Syh Chinese Buddhist temple, St Michael All Angels Church & Sim Sim water village before your transfer to the airport for your flight to Kota Kinabalu.
Upon arrival at Kota Kinabalu International Airport, your tour guide in Kota Kinabalu will be waiting at the airport for your transfer to Cititel Express Hotel for check-in where you will be free at leisure.

Day 4 (B / L /D)
After breakfast, meet up with your tour guide at the lobby at 0830hrs for your pick up to the jetty. Upon arrival at the jetty, the boat transfer to Manukan Island will be at 0900hrs. Once you reach the island, register yourself and afterwards, you will be free at leisure to do snorkeling or swimming. You may also feed the fishes at the jetty. Water sports activities are available and payable at the island. At 1200hrs, the next boat transfer takes you to Mamutik Island. Upon arrival, a BBQ lunch will be served. After lunch, you are free at leisure. By 1600hrs, take the boat transfer back to mainland. You will then be transferred back to your hotel.

Day 5 (B / L /D)
After breakfast at the hotel, your tour guide will meet you at the hotel lobby. We will depart early for a 2-hour drive through scenic countryside and mountain range on the way to Malaysia’s first World Heritage Site, Kinabalu National Park. We will also make a brief stop at the Nabalu Market to bargain for local handicrafts and fruit before continuing on our journey to Kinabalu National Park. Kinabalu National Park offers an abundant variety of flora and fauna, boasting the world’s largest flowering plant, the Rafflesia and several species of pitcher plants and birds. The highest mountain in Southeast Asia, Mount Kinabalu stands tall at 4,101 meters above sea level. The tour at the park proceeds with a jungle walk with the park guide and includes a visit to the exhibition centre where you will find more information on the unique species of animals and plants endemic to Mount Kinabalu.
Lunch will be served at Fairy Garden Resort.
Afterwards, you will transferred to Aristo Kinabalu Resort in Kundasang for your overnight stay. After check-in, you will be free at leisure.
Dinner will be served at Aristo Kinabalu Resort’s restaurant.

Day 6 (B / L / D)
After your breakfast at Aristo Kinabalu Resort, your tour guide will meet you at the hotel lobby. We will depart early for Poring Hot Spring. Upon arrival at Poring Hot Spring, we will first take the jungle trail to cross a canopy walkway (100 feet above the forest floor) to explore the wildlife endemic to Mount Kinabalu. Then, we will make our way to the soothing and therapeutic hot springs which many believe could heal certain ailments.
After the refreshing dip, the tour continues with lunch at Sri Papar Restaurant or at Round Inn before we proceed toTagal – Kampung Luanti Baru for fish massage where you will also learn about the fish conservation practices in Tagal. You will have the opportunity to have a 15-minute, knee-high fish massage.
Later in the late afternoon, you will be transferred back to Kota Kinabalu. Before heading back to the hotel, we will stop for dinner at Kampung Nelayan Floating Seafood Restaurant. Dinner will be complemented with vibrant cultural performances by our local dancers. After the performance, there will be opportunities to take pictures with the dancers and join the dancers on stage for a dance.

Day 7 (B / L)
You will have breakfast at your hotel. After breakfast, you will depart for a tour of Kota Kinabalu City. Formerly known as Jesselton in 1882 and renamed in 1968 as Kota Kinabalu or KK among the locals, the city is fast becoming a modern capital with excellent infrastructure and amenities.
For this tour, we will visit University Malaysia Sabah – Sabah’s very own university and the Sabah Foundation Building (Menara Tun Mustapha) – a unique 32-storey building with no pillars which is one of the few hanging structures in the world. The trip then continues to Kota Kinabalu Handicraft Centre (formally known as Filipino Market), Sabah State Mosque and Sabah Museum, the Puh Toh Tze Temple and the Atkinson Clock Tower.
We will stop for lunch at Sri Melaka Restaurant.
After lunch, you will depart for Kota Kinabalu International Airport in time to meet your onward flight. Alternately, you may book for an extended stay with us.
